This art print of Dundee at night is one of my personal favourites, and capturing the essence of the city’s vibrant energy against the backdrop of its serene nightscape was an incredibly rewarding experience as an artist. The deep, dark hues of the city – the rich blacks, indigos, and velvety purples – are set against the striking glow of the city lights, which shimmer and dance in the reflective waters of the River Tay. The reflection creates an almost magical effect, as if the city is both a part of the night sky and its own world below the surface.
What I love most about this piece is the interplay of light and shadow.
